Telescópio refrator Skywatcher BK 1201 EQ5 120/1000 com montagem EQ5, 120 mm abertura, 1000 mm distância focal

The Skywatcher BK 1201 EQ5 120/1000 is a refractor telescope with a 120 mm objective aperture and a 1000 mm focal length mounted on an EQ5 equatorial mount. The optical tube is designed for high-contrast, low-chromatic-aberration views of planets, the Moon and brighter deep-sky objects. The EQ5 mount provides stable tracking and fine adjustment controls that support longer visual sessions and guided or unguided astrophotography when used with suitable accessories.

Advantages

The 120 mm aperture gathers substantial light for improved resolution and clearer detail on planetary features and star clusters. The 1000 mm focal length offers a balance between magnification and field of view for both high-contrast lunar and planetary observation and medium-power deep-sky viewing. The EQ5 equatorial mount enables polar alignment and steady sidereal tracking, reducing field rotation during long exposures. The optical design and mechanical stability make the instrument practical for hobby astronomers who require reliable performance for visual observing and basic astrophotography.

Suitable for

• Visual observation of the Moon and planets
• Viewing star clusters, double stars and brighter nebulae
• Beginner to intermediate astrophotography with a camera and guide setup
• Educational demonstrations and amateur astronomy club use

Key specifications

• Optical type: Achromatic refractor
• Aperture: 120 mm
• Focal length: 1000 mm
• Focal ratio: f/8.3
• Mount type: Equatorial mount with polar axis (EQ5 class)
• Tracking: Manual and slow-motion control; suitable for guided tracking
• Typical uses: Visual observing and astrophotography (with appropriate adapters)

How to use

Set the telescope on a stable tripod and align the EQ5 mount with the celestial pole using the polar alignment scope or routine polar alignment method. Attach suitable eyepieces for the desired magnification and start with a low-power eyepiece to locate objects, then switch to higher-power eyepieces for detail. For astrophotography, install a compatible camera adapter and perform balance and polar alignment accurately; use guiding equipment for longer exposures. Adjust the slow-motion controls to track objects smoothly during observation sessions.

Recommendations

Use the Skywatcher BK 1201 EQ5 on nights with stable atmospheric seeing for best planetary detail. Balance the optical tube on the EQ5 mount before connecting imaging gear, and use low-vibration clamps and a sturdy tripod to minimize drift. For astrophotography, pair the system with a lightweight camera and an autoguider to achieve longer exposures without significant trailing.
