NEW Braun ThermoScan 7 with Age Precision IRT6520 Unique age-adjustable fever guidance technology takes the guesswork out of interpreting your child’s temperature!

Clinical research shows that the definition of fever changes with a child’s age. What is a normal temperature in a four year old, can be a fever in a newborn. Age is the determining factor. To help you interpret your child’s temperature more confidently, we have developed the new Braun ThermoScan 7 (IRT6520) with patented Age Precision technology. Simply select your child’s age, take their temperature and the colour coded display will help you understand the temperature reading, based on the age of the child, and act accordingly.

By selecting Braun ThermoScan 7, you are choosing the no.1 thermometer brand among doctors*. Thanks to its patented pre-warmed tip, Braun ThermoScan ear thermometers are already regarded as a benchmark for accuracy, and are widely used and endorsed by doctors around Europe. The tip on other thermometers can cool the area where the reading is taken, which can lead to inaccurate readings. The tip on the ThermoScan is warmed before use, to ensure professional accuracy. Plus, the ExacTemp guidance system confirms the correct position and accurate reading with a light and a beep. Now with new Age Precision technology Braun ThermoScan gives you even more reassurance when it comes to interpreting your child’s temperature. Discover all of the features of Braun ThermoScan 7 IRT6520.

Why is the ear an excellent site to measure temperature?

Braun ThermoScan measures the infrared heat generated by the eardrum and surrounding tissue. Infrared heat is the natural warmth emitted by our body. When the Braun ThermoScan IRT is placed in the ear, it continuously monitors the infrared heat emitted by the eardrum and surrounding tissue. Since the eardrum shares blood supply with the temperature control center in the brain, the ear accurately reflects the core body temperature. As a result, when the temperature rises, it is immediately detectable in the ear.

Patented pre-warmed tip and ExacTemp technology for professional accuracy

Unlike other thermometers, Braun ThermoScan ear thermometer features a patented pre-warmed tip that minimizes the cooling effect of a cool probe tip. Whereas the tip of other thermometers can cool the area within the ear where the temperature is being measured, resulting in variable or inaccurate readings, the patented pre-warmed tip on the ThermoScan is pre-warmed before use, to ensure professional accuracy that you can rely on, time and time again. The soft speculum and tip also ensures the thermometer is gentle and comfortable on a child’s ear. Plus, the ExacTemp guidance system confirms the correct position and accurate reading with a light and a beep.

Suitable to take temperature for all ages

The probe of Braun ThermoScan was designed to avoid damaging the eardrum, regardless of the person’s age. Even though the probe does not fit into the ear canal of a new-born, clinical studies have confirmed that accurate temperature readings can still be obtained in this age group when the Braun ThermoScan is used very carefully.

Age Precision takes away the guesswork

Clinical research shows that the definition of fever changes as newborns grow into little kids and little kids grow into adults. What is a fever in a newborn can be a normal temperature in a four year-old.

Doctors know this, but many parents do not. To help you interpret your child’s temperature more confidently, based on the age of your child, Braun has developed unique Age Precision technology.

In short, Age Precision helps you to interpret your child’s temperature taking into account their exact age. With new Age Precision, you get the accuracy and peace of mind you need.

Taking temperature with Age Precision is easy

With new Age Precision technology, you can take and interpret the temperature of a child or any family member in three simple steps:

Step 1
Set your child’s age with the Age Precision button.
Step 2
Take the temperature.
Step 3
The colour coded fever indicator will help you understand and interpret the results and act accordingly – green (normal temperature), yellow (elevated temperature) and red (high temperature).

What to do when the fever indicator shows green, yellow or red?

If there are symptoms, such as unusual irritability, unresponsiveness, weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, dry skin, unusual thirst, seizure, loss of appetite, or changes in activity, you should contact a doctor regardless of whether the thermometer shows green, yellow, or red.
If temperature readings are in the red range, you should speak with a doctor whether or not there are symptoms. Someone who has an elevated temperature in the yellow range and also feels sick (or appears to be sick), should speak with a doctor to find out whether or not to come into the medical office. You may choose not to consult a physician only if the indicator is green and there are no symptoms. When in doubt about the symptoms, always consult your physician.
High fever in children should be a concern. High fever usually is a sign of infection, which can be either viral or bacterial. In young children, there is a chance that the infection can be meningitis or sepsis, both of which can be very serious. Very young babies may not have high fevers even when they have infections, so even a temperature that is only slightly higher than normal may be a sign of infection in an infant. In infants, even a small rise in temperature must be taken seriously. To be on the safe side, if temperature readings are elevated or high, especially if your child has symptoms along with fever, you should consult a doctor immediately. The doctor will ask about symptoms, because without symptoms even a high temperature may not be cause for alarm.
