Conector fêmea RJ45 ShiverPeaks BS71220-8M

The ShiverPeaks BS71220-8M Cable Gender Changer RJ45 is a compact metallic adapter that connects two RJ45 network cables to extend or reconfigure cabling runs. Constructed with a metal housing and gold-plated contacts, the adapter is intended to provide stable signal transmission and improved contact resistance compared with unplated alternatives. Its small form factor makes it suitable for tight installation spaces and temporary or permanent network adjustments.

Advantages

The metal shell provides mechanical protection and shields the connector from light electromagnetic interference, while gold-plated contacts offer lower contact resistance and greater corrosion resistance for consistent Ethernet performance. The adapter’s compact design allows installation in cramped racks, patch panels or behind devices where space is limited. The simple pass-through functionality requires no power or configuration, enabling immediate use with standard Ethernet cabling.

Suitable for

• Extending the reach of two RJ45 patch cables
• Reconfiguring network cable layouts in server rooms and office environments
• Temporary network setups for testing, diagnostics, or events
• Connecting patch cables behind wall plates, switches or routers where direct cabling is impractical

Key specifications

• Connector type: RJ45 female to RJ45 female
• Contact finish: gold-plated contacts for improved conductivity
• Housing material: metallic shell for durability and shielding
• Compatibility: fits standard 8P8C Ethernet cables (Cat5e/Cat6 compatible)
• Dimensions: compact inline form factor for tight installation spaces

How to use

To use the Cable Gender Changer RJ45, insert the RJ45 plug of the first Ethernet cable into one end of the adapter and firmly insert the RJ45 plug of the second cable into the opposite end. Ensure both connectors click into place for a secure mechanical and electrical connection. The adapter functions as a passive coupler, so no additional setup or drivers are required; verify link status on connected devices after installation to confirm successful connectivity.

Recommendations

The adapter is suitable for extending patch cables and re-routing network connections in confined spaces; however, for best signal integrity over longer distances, use a single continuous cable rated for the required category rather than multiple joined segments. Avoid exposing the adapter to prolonged moisture or corrosive environments despite its metal housing, and periodically inspect contacts if used in demanding conditions.
