Test the detector monthly using the test button, and gently vacuum the exterior every six months to prevent dust buildup. If the alarm sounds due to cooking smoke, use the mute function to temporarily silence it—the detector will automatically reset after a few minutes. Replace the entire unit after 10 years, as the battery cannot be replaced.
