Módulo de expansão Durabook DE3R1X com Ethernet RJ-45, interface série RS-232 e leitor de SmartCard

The Durabook DE3R1X expansion module provides additional wired connectivity and secure authentication for compatible Durabook devices. It integrates an RJ-45 Ethernet port for reliable LAN access, an RS-232 serial port for communication with legacy instruments and industrial equipment, and a built-in SmartCard reader to enable card-based user authentication. The module is designed for field, industrial and enterprise environments where expanded input/output and secure login are required without altering the host device.

Advantages

The module delivers stable wired network connectivity through a standard Ethernet interface, reducing dependency on wireless links in areas with limited coverage. The RS-232 serial interface preserves compatibility with a wide range of legacy peripherals and measurement devices, enabling data exchange and device control in industrial scenarios. The integrated SmartCard reader supports established card authentication workflows, enhancing physical and logical access control. The compact integration into compatible Durabook systems keeps deployment straightforward and minimizes additional cabling.

Suitable for

• Field service technicians needing dependable LAN access and legacy device connections
• Industrial automation environments with serial-controlled instruments
• Enterprise deployments requiring SmartCard-based authentication for secure access
• Mobile workers operating in areas with unreliable Wi‑Fi who require wired networking

Key specifications

• Ethernet interface: RJ-45, 10/100/1000 Mbps link support (depends on host and network)
• Serial interface: RS-232, DB9-compatible signaling for serial peripherals
• Authentication: integrated SmartCard reader supporting standard contact smart cards
• Form factor: expansion module designed to attach to compatible Durabook systems
• Power and interface: uses host device connection for power and data; no separate power supply required

How to use

Attach the expansion module to a compatible Durabook device following the host manufacturer’s mounting and connection procedure. Connect the RJ-45 cable to a network switch or router to enable wired LAN access; verify link and speed indicators at both ends. Plug RS-232 cables to serial instruments using appropriate pinouts and grounding practices expected by the connected equipment. Insert a supported SmartCard into the reader to authenticate users for operating system or application login where card-based authentication is configured. Confirm device recognition and driver installation on the host operating system before deployment.

Recommendations

For reliable serial communication, match baud rate, parity, data bits and stop bits between host and peripheral and use shielded serial cabling where needed. In environments with electrical noise, ensure proper grounding and, if required, use surge protection on the Ethernet link. Keep SmartCards clean and follow your organization’s secure card-handling policies to maintain authentication reliability.
