Ocular Explore Scientific 62° 40mm — campo de visão aparente de 62°, distância focal de 40 mm

The Explore Scientific 62° 40mm eyepiece delivers a wide apparent field of view and low magnification designed for visual observation with compatible telescopes. With a 62° apparent field and a 40 mm focal length, the eyepiece provides expansive views of star fields, open clusters and large deep-sky objects. The design focuses on comfortable eye relief and clear edge-to-edge performance to support relaxed observing sessions and easy target acquisition.

Advantages

This 40 mm eyepiece offers a broad 62° apparent field that lets the observer see more of the sky in a single view, reducing the need to reframe targets. Low magnification yields brighter images and a wider true field, which is useful for scanning and panoramic views of extended objects. The eyepiece is engineered for comfortable eye relief to accommodate eyeglass wearers and to reduce observer fatigue during extended sessions. Optical correction aims to maintain sharpness and contrast across the full field to improve visual detail near the edges.

Suitable for

• Wide-field observation of star clusters and Milky Way star fields
• Surveying large deep-sky objects such as nebulae and galaxies
• Low-magnification scanning to locate and frame targets
• Relaxed visual observing sessions and teaching or outreach activities

Key specifications

• Apparent field of view: 62°
• Focal length: 40 mm
• Designed for visual observation with compatible telescope eyepiece holders
• Low magnification suitable for wide-field views and target acquisition
• Comfortable eye relief for extended observing

How to use

Insert the eyepiece into the telescope’s focuser or diagonal that accepts the eyepiece barrel size and secure it according to the telescope manufacturer’s instructions. Start with the lowest practical magnification to locate and frame extended objects, then adjust the focus until stars appear as pinpoint images. Use slow, small adjustments to the telescope pointing to center targets within the wide field. If the eyepiece provides a twist-up or adjustable eyecup, set it for the most comfortable eye position; for eyeglass wearers, maintain the recommended eye relief distance.

Recommendations

Use this 40 mm, 62° eyepiece for initial surveys of the sky and for observing large, low-surface-brightness objects. Pair it with higher-power eyepieces for follow-up detail work; ensure the telescope is well-collimated and the viewing site has stable seeing conditions to maximise edge-to-edge sharpness.
