Pen drive USB Apricorn 16 GB USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 Aegis Secure Key 3z

The Apricorn Aegis Secure Key 3z is a hardware-encrypted USB flash drive with 16 GB capacity, USB Type-A interface and USB 3.2 Gen 1 performance. It provides on-the-fly 256-bit AES XTS encryption with FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validation, an onboard alphanumeric keypad for PIN entry before connection, and a rugged, dust- and water-resistant aluminium housing (IP57). The drive is software-free, supports Aegis Configurator for mass provisioning and includes independent User and Admin PIN management, recovery PINs and a drive reset function.

Advantages

The device offers hardware-based 256-bit AES XTS encryption that protects data transparently without host software, plus FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validation covering physical security and key management. The onboard keypad prevents host-based keylogging by allowing PIN entry before USB connection. Additional features include programmable brute-force defense that destroys the encryption key after repeated incorrect entries, two read-only modes for controlled access, unattended auto-lock and a rugged epoxy-sealed internal assembly for tamper resistance. Compatibility with the Aegis Configurator enables fast, simultaneous configuration of multiple units.

Suitable for

• Secure transport of sensitive files for corporate and government use
• Fieldwork and travel where physical durability and water/dust resistance are required
• Environments requiring centralized deployment and mass configuration
• Forensic or public-access scenarios needing read-only access modes

How to use

Enter your 7–16 digit User PIN on the onboard keypad before connecting the Secure Key to a USB port. Once unlocked, connect the drive to a computer, tablet or mobile device using the USB Type-A connector to access encrypted files at USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds. Administrators can set independent Admin PINs and configure devices with Aegis Configurator for batch provisioning. If a User PIN is forgotten, use an Admin PIN or a programmed recovery PIN to regain access, or perform a drive reset to destroy data and generate a new encryption key.

Recommendations

Store Admin PINs and recovery PINs securely and provision devices using the Aegis Configurator for large deployments. Enable unattended auto-lock and, when sharing data in public settings, consider using the read-only modes to prevent accidental modification.
