The Canon E-82II lens cap is designed to protect the front element of 82 mm diameter lenses. It provides a secure fit for compatible Canon and third‑party lenses, shielding optics from dust, fingerprints, minor scratches and incidental light contact during storage and transport. The cap is finished in black and uses a center‑pinch mechanism to allow quick attachment and removal while maintaining a low profile on the lens.

Advantages

The lens cap offers a snug and reliable fit for lenses with an 82 mm front diameter, reducing the risk of physical damage and contamination. Its center‑pinch design enables one‑hand operation even when a lens hood is attached or in tight shooting setups. Constructed from durable materials, the cap resists everyday wear and retains shape for repeated use, helping to preserve optical performance by preventing direct contact with the front glass.

How to use

To attach the lens cap, gently squeeze the center pinch tabs and align the cap with the lens front until it seats evenly on the outer rim. Release the tabs to secure the cap in place. To remove, gently squeeze the tabs and pull the cap straight off. Ensure the front element is free of large debris before attaching to avoid trapping particles between the cap and the glass.

Recommendations

Store the lens cap on the lens whenever the camera is not in use to prevent dust and scratches. Clean the cap periodically with a soft cloth to remove grit that could transfer to the lens surface. If carrying spare caps or frequently changing lenses in dusty environments, consider using a rear cap and additional body or pouch protection to keep optics fully covered.
