Dispositivo de rede Silex DS-600

The Network Device Silex DS-600 is a compact USB Device Server that makes locally connected USB devices available on a network. Using Silex Technology's USB Virtual Link, the DS-600 lets scanners, MFPs, hard disks, cameras and other USB peripherals appear to a PC as if they were connected directly by USB cable, so existing device drivers and application software can be used unchanged. The unit supports USB 3.0 SuperSpeed for faster data transfer, NAS functionality for connected storage devices, and standard TCP/IP printing protocols.

Advantages

DS-600 provides flexible installation by sharing USB devices over the network, helping to reduce cabling and installation costs. It supports enterprise-grade security with IEEE 802.1X authentication, AES-256 route encryption and per-port USB connection passwords. The device also supports isochronous transfers required by webcams and USB audio, offers simple setup via Silex Device Server Setup software, and includes an ECO mode that turns off USB bus power when idle to save energy.

Suitable for

• Connecting scanners and multifunction printers to multiple PCs without direct USB cables
• Sharing external hard drives and RDX systems as network storage
• Remote use of USB cameras and USB audio devices that require isochronous transfer
• Using a printer as a network printer via LPR or RAW protocols

How to use

Connect the DS-600 to the office network via the RJ-45 Ethernet port and attach the USB device to the USB port or to a compatible USB hub. Install SX Virtual Link or Silex Device Server Setup software on the PC that will access the device; SX Virtual Link enables the remote USB device to appear as a local USB connection. Configure network and security settings through the Device Server Setup utility, assign passwords to USB ports if required, and, for storage devices, verify the file system is FAT12/16/32 for NAS availability.

Recommendations

For best results, use the DS-600 on a managed network that supports IEEE 802.1X when enterprise authentication is required, and enable AES-256 encryption when transferring sensitive data. When connecting multiple USB devices, use a powered USB hub to ensure adequate bus power. Update Silex software to the latest version and consult Silex Technical Support for compatibility questions regarding the maximum number of connected USB devices.
