Boa Rope Gym 9,8 mm 50 m EDELRID

The Boa Rope Gym 9.8mm 50m from EDELRID stands out as a dedicated gym climbing rope that prioritizes durability and handling without compromising on performance. Unlike general-purpose ropes that must balance alpine and trad demands, this rope is tuned specifically for the high-frequency falls, abrasive surfaces, and quick clipping of indoor climbing. Its 9.8mm diameter hits the sweet spot between low weight and reassuring control, while the 50m length covers the vast majority of gym walls and training setups. The Thermo Shield treatment ensures the rope remains supple and easy to clip from the very first session, and the high sheath proportion resists the wear that indoor climbing inflicts on rope covers. Whether you're projecting boulder problems on top-rope or running laps on lead, this rope delivers the consistency and longevity that gym climbers demand.

Highlights

• Optimized for gym and sport climbing with a focus on durability and handling
• 9.8mm diameter balances weight, grip, and longevity for frequent indoor use
• Thermo Shield treatment for a supple feel and easy clipping straight out of the bag
• High sheath proportion (40%) resists abrasion from quickdraws and rough gym walls
• Certified to EN 892 and UIAA standards for single rope use
• 50m length is ideal for most indoor climbing walls and training facilities

In daily use

From the first clip to the final lower, the Boa Rope Gym feels lively yet controlled. The 9.8mm diameter provides a solid grip for belayers and a confident feel for climbers, while the 62 g/m weight keeps rope drag minimal on longer pitches. The Thermo Shield treatment gives the rope a smooth, round cross-section that feeds effortlessly through belay devices and reduces kinking. After repeated falls, the rope retains its dynamic properties, absorbing impact with a moderate 8.8 kN force to protect both climber and gear. The high sheath percentage means the cover can withstand the constant rubbing against carabiners and textured wall surfaces common in gyms, extending the rope's service life. When it's time to pack up, the rope coils neatly and dries quickly, ready for the next session.
