Redutor focal para Sky-Watcher ED100 0,85x – modelo de redutor focal SW-5410 para refrator ED100

The focal reducer 0.85x for Sky-Watcher ED100 (model SW-5410) is an optical accessory that decreases the effective focal length of the ED100 refractor by 15%, producing a wider field of view and a faster focal ratio. Designed to be fitted between the telescope’s focuser and camera or eyepiece train, this reducer preserves the ED glass performance while making it easier to frame extended deep-sky objects and larger star fields. It is intended for users who need broader sky coverage or shorter exposure times without changing the main optical tube.

Advantages

The reducer increases the observable field by reducing the telescope’s focal length and focal ratio, which helps capture larger areas of the sky and reduces required exposure time for imaging. Optics are matched to the ED100’s design to maintain image quality across the field, with minimized off-axis aberrations when used within its compatible backfocus range. The accessory is compact and mounts directly to standard telescope focusers, offering a straightforward mechanical interface for both visual and photographic setups.

Suitable for

• Wide-field deep-sky astrophotography with Sky-Watcher ED100
• Imaging large nebulae, star clusters and Milky Way fields
• Reducing exposure times for planetary and deep-sky imaging workflows
• Visual observation when a wider apparent field is desired

Key specifications

• Reduction factor: 0.85× (reduces focal length by 15%)
• Designed for: Sky-Watcher ED100 refractor optical tube
• Function: widens field of view and lowers effective focal ratio
• Mounting: fits between focuser and camera/eyepiece (standard mechanical interface)
• Primary use: astrophotography and visual wide-field observation

How to use

Install the focal reducer into the telescope’s focuser according to the focuser’s standard mounting method, then attach the camera or eyepiece to the reducer’s output. Achieve focus by adjusting the focuser while observing test exposures or a bright star; small focus adjustments may be required compared to the native ED100 configuration due to the changed backfocus. Verify that the reducer’s backfocus requirement is met for optimal image quality and ensure secure mechanical connections to avoid image shift during long exposures.

Recommendations

For best results in imaging, use a flat-field calibration routine (flats) to correct residual vignetting and field illumination falloff. Confirm the reducer’s recommended sensor spacing from the reducer optical surface and check for compatibility with field rotators or off-axis guiders if used. When switching between visual and photographic use, re-check focus and parfocality to maintain consistent framing.
