Switch gerido Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6560

The Managed Switch Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6560 is a rack-mountable, stackable multi-gigabit Ethernet access switch designed for campus and enterprise networks. It provides 48 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports, 10 GigE uplinks and support for 20 GigE stacking, delivering a switching capacity of 216 Gbit/s and a MAC address table of 16,000 entries. The switch supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) and a broad set of IEEE networking standards, and runs the Alcatel-Lucent Operating System (AOS) for manageable, secure and energy-efficient operation.

Advantages

The OmniSwitch 6560 combines multi-gigabit access ports with 10G uplink and high-capacity stacking to accommodate high-performance Wi-Fi and dense device deployments. Its 1U rack-mountable form factor and optimized power usage enable efficient use of rack space and reduced operational costs. Use of AOS delivers proven management, security and high availability features suitable for enterprise edge deployments.

How to use

Install the OmniSwitch 6560 in a standard 19-inch rack using the included mounting brackets and secure appropriate power and network cabling. Configure basic switching, VLANs, PoE settings and uplink/stacking links via the Alcatel-Lucent Operating System (AOS) management interface — using CLI, web GUI or network management tools supported by AOS. Connect access points, endpoints and uplink links according to your network design and verify port status and PoE allocation after initial setup.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, use Cat6a or better cabling for multi-gigabit links and ensure firmware is updated to the latest AOS release. Plan PoE budget per port when deploying power-hungry devices and design stacking and uplink topologies to provide redundancy and required throughput.
